Hazing Transparency Report
The University of New Mexico is committed to fostering a safe and respectful campus environment. In compliance with the Stop Campus Hazing Act, we are dedicated to transparency and accountability in addressing hazing incidents. This report provides detailed information on hazing incidents reported to campus security authorities or local police, including the nature of the incidents, the organizations involved, and the outcomes of investigations. By openly sharing this information, we aim to raise awareness, promote prevention, and ensure the well-being of all students. Together, we can create a campus culture that prioritizes safety, respect, and dignity for everyone.
Date of Incident: September 27, 2025
Description: The chapter collaborated with the Women’s Resource Center and the Arcoíris Center to host a stay sober event before the University of New Mexico football game. During the event, incoming members wore high-visibility vests and were assigned tasks such as distributing alcohol and clean-up. Current members, and others, wrote and drew on the incoming members’ high-visibility vests and bodies. Most of the drawings and statements were of a sexually explicit and gender-insensitive nature.

Findings of the institution:

- Student Code of Conduct Section: 2.11 Illegal use, possession, or distribution of any controlled substance, illegal drug or alcohol
- Student Code of Conduct Section: 2.15. Violation of published or posted University regulations or policies.
- Student Code of Conduct Section: 2.18. Any other acts or omissions which affect adversely University functions or University-sponsored activities, disrupt community living on campus, interfere with the rights of others to the pursuit of their education, or otherwise affect adversely the processes of the University.
- Student Code of Conduct Section: 2.19. Violating the terms of any disciplinary sanction imposed in accordance with this Code.
Sanctions:
- 2-year Chapter Revocation
- Pre-return development work
- Upon return: Disciplinary Probation for 1 year, Operational Restrictions for 1 year, Alcohol Skills Training Program, Hazing Prevention Workshop, Title IX Workshop, $1500.00 donation to Hazing Prevention Fund
