Mission and Vision

Our Approach to the Student Resolution Process
At UNM, we believe every challenge is a chance to grow. Through fair, transparent, and educational processes, the Office of Student Rights and Responsibilities helps students reflect on their actions, learn from their experiences, and find their place in the campus community.
Our work is grounded in values like respect, ownership, integrity, and purpose. We aim to create a space where students feel heard, understand the impact of their behavior, and appreciate different perspectives. We also recognize the importance of balancing each student’s needs with the well-being of the larger university community.
Whenever possible, we focus on educational and restorative outcomes—responses that help students take responsibility, repair harm, and stay connected to their academic pursuits, personal goals, and the UNM community. Our goal is to support meaningful growth and accountability in ways that strengthen both individual student development and the broader campus community’s well-BEING.
